All activities of SECH are handled at “Casa del Escritor”, built in 1927 to the design by architect Julio Machicao Fuentes. In 2008, this building was designated by the Chilean Council of Culture as part of Historical Monuments. There is no doubt that the facades and the spatial configuration of this building are an expression of the social and architectural modernization that took place in the early twentieth century. Such characteristics reveal a debate on the presence of foreign influences and the development of a nationalistic sentiment in support of arts.
