Abstract

This study aims at describing the differences about English language learning beliefs held by 402 basic (A1, A2) and intermediate (B1) learners at Tecnológico de Antioquia–Institución Universitaria. This deals with a descriptive cross-sectional research carried out under a non-experimental design, transactional field. The BALLI (Beliefs About Language Learning Inventory) comprised of four questionnaires were, then, analyzed with descriptive statistics by means of a parametric test. Findings indicated that there are language beliefs that remain static throughout the levels examined or some are related to methodology, communicative skills and oral production correction. This research also revealed some significant differences in the items related to language difficulty, listening skill, learning context, language structure and speaking errors.
