Abstract

The aphasics present an alteration in the pantomime recognition; However, the cause of it remains controversia!, there is discussion about the kind of it, it could be symbolic or praxic. This study compares the performance in the pantomime recognition screenig test (PECP) in a group aphasic and a group control, the kind of committed error and the variables that have influence are exa-mined in his performance. The results suggest that the aphasic yield the normal the significantly less than more frequent error in both groups is the one belonging to semantic relation. The variables that influence the performance of the aphasic are : Intellectual deterioration, severity of aphasia and anosognosia's presence. The study shows evidente that support a deficit in the symbolic component in order to explain a deficit in pantomime recognition in the aphasics.
