Abstract

Access to virtual training for parents and/or caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has emerged as both a need and an understudied area. This review aims to analyze the effects of virtual parent training programs on the skills of children with ASD. After examining 721 articles, 61 were selected as directly relevant; of these, only 10 studies met the eligibility criteria and were included in the final review. The results indicate that virtual training programs for parents lead to significant improvements in the social, behavioral, cognitive, linguistic, and communication skills of their children with ASD. These findings are particularly relevant to recommending the implementation of virtual training, expanding access to resources, and providing support for families residing in rural areas or those with time constraints that make it difficult for them to attend these programs in person.
